The Snake River was one of my favorite trips, and this year my friend Chuck (kudos for the great pics he took!)
joined the fun. It was a little chilly, but this time I was ready with sprayskirt, paddling pants and jacket.  The boats in action were a 16 foot Perception Carolina and the Woodsman.  Normally I go when the weather is nicer and take the inflatables as open boats, but I wasn't going to do that in April.  I didn't really like taking the Carolina so much as I like to be more maneuverable on the River.  But it worked OK.

There was a decent turnout, I think ~20 kayaks and canoes.  This was a River Ramblers trip.
The Snake is a nice trip as it is usually doable in 2-3 hours (water time), and has an easy shuttle.  Roughly half way, there's a nice spot to eat lunch.

There's a couple with a couple dogs, I think the big one is a Newfoundland, check it out!

There was only one spill, a big boulder shook one person up and helped another person get a refreshing dose of spring, but everyone was OK.

It was a great day to be on the water.  I can't wait to come back in the summer after some rain!

What I like about the Snake is that you get a little of everything: easy rapids, some nice scenery, some boulders to keep you awake, and a nice current through most of June.
